Today, Omega announced the launch of the new Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope coaxial supreme chronograph replica 329.30.43.51.03.001. The Dial

The tachymeter is divided into two scales. The first is the classic scale on the bezel for measuring speeds from 500 to 60 units (kph, mph) then there is a secondary scale, in two levels, located in the center of the dial, which measures speeds from 60 to 20 units (up to 3 minutes of travel). The other two scales, the telemeter and the pulse meter, are printed on the inside of the dial and refer to older OMEGA chronographs from the 1930s to the 1940s.

This Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope replica also has a very unique dial, unlike previous models in the collection. It has a double row of hands layout with a small seconds hand at 9 o'clock and a classic Omega Co-Axial chronograph dial with hour and minute indications at 3 o'clock. And, the good news is that this watch does not have a date. the Chronoscope collection introduces a new dial with a stepped profile. The hour ring features slender and beautifully designed applied Arabic numerals at the top of a concentric circle pattern. Polished leaf-shaped hands are also new to this watch.

As for the steel model, there are three different dials to choose from. The first is a blue dial with silvered counters and silvered hands and hour markers, as well as a matching bezel. The second is a silver dial with a counter in the same shade, blue accents on the hands and hour markers and a blue bezel. Finally, there is the Panda version with a silvered dial, black counters and a black bezel.

The Case

What we see here with the new Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope men's watch replica is obviously, on many levels, a new iteration of a Speedy watch. As such, the overall design is familiar, specifically for the case. This means an external bezel with a scale (remember that the Speedy was the first watch with this feature in 1957), a case with an asymmetrical design and twisted lugs, and a raised, box-shape crystal on top.

There are, however, a few new features on this Chronoscope. And the first is the size of the watch. While classic Moonwatch models are all sized at 42mm, and the Automatic/Racing/DSOTM versions come in at 44.25mm, the Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope replica introduces a new “mid-size” 43mm case. The shape is not novel, and pushers/crown and case bands will feel familiar to Speedy lovers. As with the recently revamped Moonwatch, Omega has worked on the proportions. This means that despite the rather large diameter, lug-to-lug width is contained at 48mm and, since the watch comes with a new hand-wound movement, it is also relatively thin at 12.8mm – in fact, thinner than a Moonwatch. It feels good on the wrist and wears slightly smaller than expected (especially on the bracelet, but more on that later).

The case, at least for six of the seven editions, is made of stainless steel and features the classic combination of brushed surfaces and polished accents on the sides. The raised, fixed bezel is equipped with an anodized aluminium insert, which features a classic tachymetre , the first of the four scales of this Chronoscope watch. The case has a typical “sapphire sandwich” architecture, with a water-resistance of 50 meters (like most Speedmaster watches).

The Movement

Omega has given the Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope 43mm Chronograph replica a new co-axial hand-wound movement; the calibre 9908. This calibre 9908 movement runs at 4hz and has a frequency of 28, 800 VpH. The movement gives out a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. All seven models come with an open case-back, which unfortunately doesn't show much of the movement. In lieu of this, Omega has decorated the covered sections of the movement with “arabesque” Geneva stripes, which is a first for the company.
